He is also known by the name of “Chhayaputra”. As per Hindu mythology, he is the son of Surya Dev (Sun) and Chhaya (Shadow), which is why he is also named as Chhayaputra.
While astrologers consider this planet as the most aggressive and cruel among all the nine planets and have malefic effects when ill-placed in birth chart but Shani Dev is known as the God of Justice, a sign of ‘Karma’, as he rewards and punishes each human being as per their deeds.

Sometimes, it may happen due to wrong placement of Saturn in the birth chart.

3. Practice Shani Dev is pleased by people’s good deeds and practicing “Karma Yoga” can be helpful. Karma Yoga defines the works we do in our daily life, basically Karma.
4. Engage in Charitable Donations, as Lord Shani, appreciates selfless acts of giving.
5. Perform Yagya or Havans as this ritual is believed to purify and discard negative energy, which cleanses one’s soul eternally.
6. Saturdays are associated with Lord Shani. It is believed that offering lamps lit with mustard or sesame oil on that day can please Lord Shani. Additionally, try to wear black coloured clothes on Saturdays. Other offerings that yield positive results include black clothing, black sesame seeds, urad pulse, iron utensils, and blankets.
7. Worship Lord Kaalbhairava, a form of Lord Shiva, is known as the “Lord of Time”. Upon worshipping him, the one ultimately surrenders itself to the process; the mind becomes completed and creates fullness in life.
8. Try abstaining from drinking alcohol and eating non-vegetarian food, as Lord Shani is pleased by individuals who abstain themselves from such things. Try to offer milk to a banyan tree, as it is believed to bring favourable outcomes for persons with Sade Sati.
9. It is a popular fact that Saturdays are associated with Lord Hanuman, hence reciting the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ on Saturdays is believed to please Shani Dev. Also, by feeding jaggery and black chana (black gram) to monkeys, Lord Shani is pleased by and brings good fortune.
10. When afflicted by ‘mahadosha,’ worshipping the peepal tree, especially on Saturday mornings, is recommended. Offering water to the Peepal tree and circumambulating it clockwise, known as ‘Parikrama,’ are auspicious practices.
