Sattu – A Drink that Iterates Legacy

New Delhi | June 5: Have you ever been to Bihar or Uttar Pradesh or Jharkhand? You must have noticed a popular drink in that state, called Sattu. Ahh! You don’t really need to go, you may have heard or just seen a recipe. Indeed, as it is not less than a superfood. Sattu is a protein powerhouse and is definitely loved by gym-lovers. 

Well, Sattu is a popular drink in primarily in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. It is a powerhouse of plant-based protein and dietary fibre and provides a significant amount of essential amino acids, making it an excellent protein source for vegetarians and vegans.

The high fibre content aids in digestion, promotes bowel regularity, and helps manage weight by inducing a feeling of fullness, reducing overeating.

Sattu has also found its conveyance in Ayurveda for its cooling effects on body. It’s indeed a great summer drink, facilitating functioning of heart and digestive system.

It is usually made up by grinding the roasted chickpeas into a fine powder. It’s a great option as it is convenient, cheap, affordable and beneficial.

It can be easily traced in the market, and one can make it at home, you just need to dry roast some chickpeas (kala chana) and grind it into a fine powder and your Sattu is ready.
