Mortal remains of the Kerala victims brought back to India

New Delhi | June 14: The mortal remains of the deceased in the Kuwait fire tragedy arrived at Palam Technical Airport in the Indian Air Force’s C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft on Friday.

Almost 45 Indians died and more than 50 others were injured in the tragic fire incident that occurred in a residential building of foreign workers in Mangaf, Kuwait. 

Out of the 45 dead workers, 23 were Keralites while 7 from Tamil Nadu, 3 from Andhra Pradesh, 1 each from Bihar, Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Punjab, and West Bengal.

According to the reports of Indian Ministry of External Affairs authorities, most of the admitted patients are in stable condition now.

Apart from 45 Indian workers three Filipino nationals were also dead.

The Minister of State of MEA Kirti Vardhan Singh was onboard in a flight which carried the mortal remains of the victims.

Bharatiya Janata Party MPs Yogendra Chandolia, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Bansuri Swaraj and other leaders were present at the airport to receive the mortal remains.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the fire and prayed for recovery of injured ones.

Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, “The fire mishap in Kuwait City is saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is closely monitoring the situation and working with the authorities there to assist the affected.”
