“First vote, Then refreshment”: PM Modi urges people to vote “enthusiastically” in 1st phase of Jharkhand polls

New Delhi | November 13: As the first phase of voting begins in Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged the voters of Jharkhand to vote in huge numbers with full enthusiasm in the “festival of democracy” as he asserted “first vote, then refreshment.”
PM Modi extended “heartiest congratulations” to the young voters who are going to cast their vote for the first time in these assembly elections.
PM Modi took to X and wrote, “Today is the first round of voting in the Jharkhand assembly elections. I urge all voters to vote with full enthusiasm in this festival of democracy. On this occasion, my heartiest congratulations to all my young friends who are going to vote for the first time! Remember – first vote, then refreshment!”


Elections in being on 43 Assembly Constituencies of Jharkhand. Jharkhand Assembly Elections are going to decide fate of the assertive opposition and ruling Mahagathbandhan or INDIA alliance (JMM, Congress, RJD and Left) led by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the state. Congress is eyeing a ‘major win’ for the party after a major defeat in Haryana Assembly Elections. However, the centre-ruling BJP-led NDA (BJP, LJP, AJSU) is also assertive of their win in the party with its several leaders giving pro-party win statements ahead of the elections.


The first phase of Jharkhand Elections will decide fate of 683 candidates, contesting elections of 43 assembly constituencies of Jharkhand. Out of the 43 constituencies, 17 seats are general while 20 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes and 6 are reserved for Scheduled Castes.
The 43 seats which will undergo polls on November 13 are:

    Voting has begun at 7 am on November 13.
    The second phase of assembly elections on remaining 38 seats are scheduled for November 20. The results for the elections on 81 assembly constituencies will be declared on November 23.
    In the last assembly election of 2019, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 30 seats, the BJP won 25 and Congress won 16 seats.
