What is Mahila Samman Yojana?
New Delhi | December 29: Ahead of the Delhi Elections 2025, the national capital has been engaged into a huge political battle, as politics on the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) poll promise has been intensified with both Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party alleging Arvind Kejriwal of committing fraud against voters.
The things were going smooth for all poll promises of AAP, as Kejriwal had announced door to door registration of the scheme, but suddenly, on December 25, the Women and Child Department of the Delhi government issued a public notice over the registration of the Kejriwal’s proposed welfare scheme ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’, saying that “no such scheme is existent” in the Delhi government and it is “not registering” for any such scheme.
Following the announcement, there was a political outcry among BJP and Congress leaders, with both accusing AAP of erring voters with their “fraudulent” poll promises and breaching their privacy by registering them with “non-government” people.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former AAP leader Kapil Mishra launched a scathing attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that he is doing “big fraud” with the sisters of Delhi.
Taking to X, Mishra said, “What a big fraud Kejriwal is doing with the sisters of Delhi. On one side Kejriwal is getting women to fill out forms, on the other side see the notice of the Delhi government in today’s newspapers. The Delhi government itself is advertising that there is no such scheme and these forms are fake.”
Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal counter alleged that BJP is badly upset by the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana.
Taking it to X, the former Delhi chief minister said, “These people are badly upset by the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana. They have planned to arrest Atishi ji in the next few days by making a fake case. Before that, raids will be conducted on senior AAP leaders.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit also went to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor to complaint about the privacy breach of residents of Delhi over Kejriwal’s poll promise of giving Rs 2100 per month to women residing in Delhi.
Following his complaints, Delhi LG VK Saxena initiated an inquiry over Dikshit’s allegations that “non-government” people are breaching privacy and collecting data of residents of Delhi by registering people into the scheme. The LG ordered the Commissioner of Police to initiate inquiry into the allegations and take action as per the law.
What is Mahila Samman Yojana?
In November, Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government announced a new scheme for women of the national capital, called ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ under which, the eligible women will get monthly assistance of Rs 1000.
This announcement was made by party supremo Arvind Kejriwal. He stated that the Delhi government cabinet has approved the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, under which eligible women of the national capital will be given Rs 1000 every month, starting from Thursday. Rs 1,000 will be directly transferred to every eligible woman above the age of 18.
Moreover, the party chief Kejriwal affirmed that the amount will be doubled to Rs 2100 if the party regains the power in Delhi.
