New Delhi | August 3: The case pertaining to the tragic incident in which 3 UPSC aspirants lost their lives after a basement flooded in Old Rajinder Nagar of New Delhi followed by incessant rainfall, the Delhi High Court on Friday ordered the transfer of the investigating case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) instead of Delhi Police.

The case was initially investigated by the team of Delhi Police.

The reason cited behind the transfer is the possible chances of corruption in the investigation and noting the sensitivity and seriousness of the issue.

Meanwhile, UPSC aspirants are continuously protesting against the mishandling of the government since July 27.

They have expressed their point of view after the order of the High Court and welcomed its decision. They said they welcomes this decision and will further cooperate with the concerned authority. But some of the aspirants demanded for the Judicial Magistrate Inquiry into the case.

The political tug of war of words have also started since the day 1 of the issue. Bharatiya Janata Party has blamed the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government while the latter has started protesting with the students. The politicisation of the issue is lying on the top-notch with AAP leaders blaming LG VK Saxena for not giving permission while BJP leaders blaming AAP for apathy of the Delhi’s issues.

In the meanwhile, the coaching institutes have also been in the sphere of negligence, as the situation is now focused on the “building bye-laws” which is clearly violated in this matter. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) other day sealed various coaching institutes for violating the law.

On July 27, three UPSC aspirants Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni and Navin Dalwin lost their lives after the library of Rau’s IAS Study Circle, situated in the basement of the building, flooded following the heavy rainfall in Delhi.
