New Delhi| June 15: A major fire that broke out in the Marwadi Katra in the streets of Nai Sarak market, a locality of Chandni Chowk in the national capital of Delhi on Thursday, at around 5pm is now doused after the continuous efforts of almost 24 hours and over 200 fire personnel.
No casualties or injuries have been reported.
The fire engulfed over hundreds of shops in the market.
The fire was majorly reported in the Anil Market area in Marwadi Katra, constituted of narrow streets.
The shops were associated with a business of lehengas, bridal suits, sarees, dress and fancy wears.
The Fire Department received a call about the fire incident on Thursday at around 5 pm. Upon receiving the information, officials from the fire department promptly responded and reached to the spot. They worked tirelessly for continuous 24 hours to douse the fire.
The reason that it took so long to douse the fire is narrow streets of the market and the market building structures were outdated, as it was made before 1960s, majorly of wood, which resulted in the massive and more massive fire.
As of now, the fire has been doused but the officials suspect that some fire sparks might be present in the shops that are inbuilt in the corner of the market.
The reason for fire is yet to be ascertained.
Now, the Delhi Police has registered a case in this regard and has started its investigation.
