Former PM Manmohan Singh passes away at 92 in New Delhi
New Delhi | December 26: Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Thursday passed away at the age of 92 at All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
Initially, this news was confirmed by Robert Vadra, husband of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
In an Instagram post, Robert Vadra said, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Fmr Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ji…”
Vadra offered deepest condolences to his family and expressed gratitude for former PM Manmohan Singh service for the nation. He remembered the economic changes brought in the nation by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
“My deepest condolences for his family and loved ones. Thank you for your service to our Nation. You will always be remembered for your Economic revolution and progressive changes, you brought to the country,” Vadra added further.
The social media handle X of Delhi Congress also expressed condolences on demise of Prime Minister of the country, Manmohan Singh, saying that his demise is an “an irreparable loss to Indian politics.”
The Delhi Congress took to X to pay homage to memories of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh and expressed gratitude for his contribution to nation building.
“The demise of renowned economist and former Prime Minister of the country, respected Manmohan Singh ji is an irreparable loss to Indian politics. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to his family to bear this sorrow. The Delhi Congress family pays homage to the memories of respected Manmohan ji and expresses gratitude for his contribution to nation building. Om Shanti,” it posted on X.
Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chhadha also expressed condolences on the demise of the former Prime Minister and said that his legacy will endure and inspire generations to work.
In a social media post on X, Raghav Chhadha said, “A world-renowned economist and the architect behind the liberalization of the Indian economy, Dr Manmohan Singh Ji steered India through difficult times and into a new era. An Oxford-educated economist, he spearheaded India’s 1991 economic reforms and led the nation as Prime Minister with quiet determination, proving that intellect and integrity can drive transformative change.”
“I join the nation in mourning the passing of one of our most distinguished statesmen. His legacy will endure and inspire generations to come. I consider myself blessed and privileged to have had the opportunity to work alongside him in the Rajya Sabha. My deepest condolences to his family. RIP, Sir. Om Shanti.”
Earlier today, Manmohan Singh was admitted to AIIMS Delhi in evening today following his deteriorating health. Several media outlets reported that he was admitted to the emergency department of the hospital.
