Sheikhpura | Bihar: At least 50 students fainted at Mankaul Middle School in the Ariari block of Sheikhpura district of Bihar, on Wednesday morning.
This happened due to the severe heatwave-like conditions in the district, as the temperature was crossing the mark of 40 to 45 degrees Celsius.
Initially six students fainted but gradually more of them lost their senses and started fainting.The incident began after the students attended an assembly for prayers and then proceeded to class.
All the unconscious students were provided with water and electrolytes. This entire matter created chaos in the school due to which all villagers reached immediately at the spot.
The school headmaster Suresh Prasad immediately informed the public health department and called an ambulance as soon as possible. Since, health department didn’t respond promptly; the frustrated villagers lifted the fainted students on their private vehicles.
They immediately rushed to the district`s Sadar Hospital on bike, e-rickshaw and tempo after the ambulance didn’t arrive.
The delayed arrival of the ambulance outraged the villagers which resulted in the blockage of the road and protests against the administration.
Headmaster Prasad said, “All the fainted children belonged to senior classes. After waiting for the ambulance for few hours, we took them to the hospital in private vehicles.”
The doctor advised parents to make sure there children are having breakfast and carrying water bottles with them from home.
While in Begusarai district, almost six students of Matihani Middle School fainted due to searing and scalding heatwave in the district.
The outraged school administration blamed government and educational secretary of the state for keeping schools operational even in this scorching heat and regarded this order as ‘Tughlaqi Farmaan’.
According to the latest data of the India Meteorological Depaartment (IMD), the maximum temperature in the state is in the range of 40 to 45 degrees Celsius and there is a heatwave-like conditions prevailing in the state.
