Arjuna tree is mainly found in the Indo-sub-Himalayan tracts, including regions like South Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chota Nagpur, Madhya Pradesh, Burma, Deccan, and Delhi. It also grows in Mauritius and Sri Lanka. While it prefers red laterite and humid, fertile soils, it can thrive in various soil types and even tolerate partial submergence for weeks. The bark of this majestic tree is particularly valued for its potential to heal and protect the human body.

The mention of the Arjuna tree and its therapeutic properties can be traced back to ancient Indian texts, including the Vedas. The ashes of the white bark were found useful against scorpion stings and snakebites.
