The protest erupted after three civil service aspirants died due to flooding in the basement of a coaching center in Old Rajinder Nagar. Students were protesting against the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) following the tragic incident that occurred on Saturday.

Officials reported on Saturday that three civil services aspirants died after heavy rainfall flooded the basement of a coaching center in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar area. The Delhi Fire Department received a call from Rau’s IAS Study Circle around 7 pm on Saturday regarding the waterlogged basement.
“The caller informed us that there might be people trapped inside. We are investigating how the entire basement got flooded. It seems the water filled the basement very quickly, trapping some individuals,” said DCP (Central Delhi) M Harshavardhan.
Students protested the deaths of their fellow aspirants, raising slogans against the authorities. Delhi Revenue Minister Atishi has directed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to initiate an inquiry and submit a report within 24 hours.
