New Delhi | June 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates 10th International Yoga Day in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations of the 10th International Day of Yoga at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The agenda of the celebration was to unite thousands in the practice of Yoga to promote health and wellness on a global scale.
Sharing a glimpse of his yoga sessions, Prime Minister Modi posted his ‘post-yoga selfies’ on his X (formerly Twitter) handle and wrote Dal Lake has provided a wonderful setting for this occasion. He celebrated the ‘International Yoga Day’ with reflecting peace and harmony. However, he also conveyed that rain tried to hinder the whole the session but was unable to dampen the situation.
In a social media post to X, he wrote, “Dal Lake in Srinagar provided a wonderful setting for this year’s Yoga Day programme, reflecting perfect harmony with nature. The rains did not dampen the spirit of the countless people gathered there. Here are some glimpses.”
In another post, in a tweeted video, he also said that, “Yoga is not only a discipline but also a science and it is creating new paths of positive change in the society. Yoga brings about oneness of the mind, body and soul.”
President Draupadi Murmu also celebrated the festival of International Yoga Day and conveyed that Yoga is India’s unique gift to humanity that will foster the lives of human beings.
Meanwhile, along with PM Modi, various leaders such as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and celebrities including Anupam Kher and Jackie Shroff.
For the first time, 21st June was selected as “International Yoga Day” in the year of 2014.
