Patna | June 11: Former Chief Minister of Bihar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on June 11 celebrated his 77th birthday at his residence in Patna.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was spotted cutting a cake that was number as ‘77’ with his wife, daughters and other officials of the party. His party, RJD also celebrated his birthday with great enthusiasm and shows.
Meanwhile, a huge throng of crowd of his supporter was spotted outside his residence with bunch of ladoos, sweets, flowers, khaja (Bihar’s famous sweet dish) and bouquets. The throng was spotted dancing, celebrating and immensely enjoying on occasion of his birthday.
Lalu Prasad Yadav is a prominent politician in India and primarily Bihar. He has a long and eventful political career spanning over four decades.
Interestingly, he has served as Chief Minister of Bihar for seven years from 1990 to 1997 while being in Janata Dal.
When he was loaded with the accusations of Fodder Scam, the situation made a split in the party (Janata Dal) and consecutively, Lalu Prasad Yadav established his own party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in 1997.
While being a Union Railway Minister of India in the Prime Ministership of Dr Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2009, Lalu Yadav launched ‘Garib Rath Express’ which is considered boon for middle class train travellers.
Garib Rath Express is fully air conditioned train with relatively lower fare.
Initially, he was elected as Member of Parliament from Bihar’s Chhapra seat (now called Saran) in 1977 and became the youngest MP in the nation.
Despite facing electoral defeats, Lalu Prasad Yadav remained a prominent figure in politics. Throughout his career, Lalu Yadav held various positions, including being an MLA, a chief minister, and a member of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
