Delhi Jal Board: Parts of Delhi to not get water until next announcement?
New Delhi | December 22: The Delhi Jal Board today said that the level of water supply will be reduced to 25-50 per cent in several parts of the national capital due to the high ammonia levels in the Yamuna river.
According to the Jal Board, the high ammonia levels in the Yamuna have been found at the Wazirabad Plant and the water production at the plant is down by 25-50 per cent.
The Board stated that several areas of Delhi may receive low water pressure until the situation improves.
The affected areas are – Majnu Ka Tila, ISBT, GPO, NDMC area, ITO, Hans Bhawan, LNJP Hospital, Defence Colony, CGO complex, Rajghat, WHO, IP emergency, Ramleela Ground, Delhi gate, Subhash Park, Gulabi Bagh, Timarpur, SFS Flats, Punjabi Bagh, Azadpur, Shalimar Bagh, Wazirpur, Lawrence Road, Model Town, Jahangirpuri Moolchand, South Extension, Greater Kailash, Burari and adjoining areas, parts of Cantonment areas and South Delhi and other area which are on command of Wazirabad WTP.

Therefore, water supply will be available at low pressure till the situation improves.”
“Affected Areas: The areas likely to be affected are Majnu Ka Tila, ISBT, GPO, NDMC area, ITO, Hans Bhawan, LNJP Hospital, Defence Colony, CGO complex, Rajghat, WHO, IP emergency, Ramleela Ground, Delhi gate, Subhash Park, Gulabi Bagh, Timar pur, SFS Flats, Punjabi Bagh, Azadpur,, Shalimar Bagh, Wazirpur, Lawrence Road, Model Town, Jahangirpuri Moolchand, South Extn., Greater kailash, Burari and adjoining areas, Parts of Cantonment areas and South Delhi and other area which are on command of wazirabad WTP,” the Delhi Jal Board said.
Additionally, the Jal Board provided an Water Emergency number – 1916.
It is to be noted that from the last several days, there was a rise in the toxic pollutants in the Yamuna River which was majorly witnessed near the Kalindi Kunj area of the city.
Several people complaint of foul smell, itching and pain in eyes and allergy after contacting the water or getting nearby to it.
The deteriorating condition of Yamuna River has always been the topic of discussion and debate but till the date, no any politician or leader dared to clean it or at least tried to minimise the level of pollution in the river.
It is the same Yamuna which is so clean in Uttarakhand and Haryana but it is as polluted as a gutter in Delhi.
As assembly elections are approaching in Delhi, the politicians will again remember this majestic river but after getting the power, they will forget it for 5 years. As long as there will be corrupt leaders in the national capital, the mighty Yamuna which provides you water (the lifeline of human being) will remain dirty.
