New Delhi | December 4: Rahu and Ketu, they are like brothers. Rahu is the north node of the moon whereas Ketu is the south node of the moon. As Rahu, Ketu is also an imaginary planet. It is a shadowy planet, also known as the dragon’s tail, as it is the severed half of the demon Svarbhanu, who was beheaded by Lord Vishnu for trying to drink the nectar of immortality. The other half of the demon is Rahu, the dragon’s head, which represents the north node of the moon. Ketu is predominantly non-materialistic and spiritual planet. It’s often associated with past-life karma and the lessons that come with it.
Just like Rahu Mahadasha, Ketu Mahadasha, refers to the time period of seven years in which an individuals life gets influenced by Ketu. It can be a challenging yet transformative time for a person, as it brings major changes in life. It can either be positive or negative, as it depends upon the placement of Ketu in one’s birth chart.

Remedies to Overcome Ketu’s Malefic Effects

3. Wear Gemstones -A Cat’s Eye (Lehsunia) gemstone is recommended for those needing to balance Ketu’s energy, but it should only be worn after consulting an astrologer.
4. Donation and Charity – Donate mustard oil, blankets, and black sesame seeds on Saturdays. Feed stray dogs or birds as an act of kindness to mitigate Ketu’s harsh effects.
5. Perform Pujas and Rituals – Conduct a Ketu Shanti Puja to pacify its energy. Keeping a Ketu Yantra at home can help align its influence positively.
6. Fasting – Observing fasts on Tuesdays or Saturdays and consuming simple, sattvic (pure) food can help reduce Ketu’s malefic tendencies.
