52 degrees Celsius row: Why Indian Media believes in creating too much hoax?

New Delhi | May 29: Are you also one of them who heard or read the news of Delhi’s Mungeshpur temperature crossing the mark of 52 degrees Celsius? Yes, the insane 52 degrees Celsius!

Maybe, you didn’t have heard about that, but Indian media did and guess what? They published the information as it is, without fact-checking it.

A normal human being would definitely cross-check this news multiple times from various sites, including IMD, but news channels and websites didn’t had that courtesy to wait for the official confirmation, because they wanted to garner views and earn money.

Various news channels and websites reported that Mungeshpur area in the capital city of Delhi has touched the mark of 52.3 degrees Celsius, as per the data of Automatic Weather Station.

However, responding to a tweet, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, take the matter into cognizance and mandated senior IMD (India Meteorolgical Department) to cross-check the data, as it could be the system error.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “It is not official yet. Temperature of 52.3°C in Delhi is very unlikely. Our senior officials in IMD have been asked to verify the news report. The official position will be stated soon.”

Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) network made operational reporting of temperature and rainfall observations for 15 new locations spread over different parts of Delhi and NCR (in addition to manual departmental stations).
